Chintu Chinki Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story – A forced Comedy
A SAB TV serial, produced by Jamandas Majethia (JD) & Aatish Kapadia and created by Hats Off Productions Pvt Ltd, Chintu Chinki Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story(It is called as Chintu Chinki Aur Ek Badmash Family at present)is less entertainer and more of a forced story.
Set in the present time Bhopal, the serial revolves around the love story of Mr Chintu and Miss Chinki. Chintu stays in a joint family and is a simple,innocent guy. He is famous in college and loved by his neigbours. Majority of decisions in the family are taken by elders and chintu knows the fact. It is time for Chintu to get married as per his family wishes rather his own will.
Chinki is from a small family. She is independent-minded person but very soft and kind at heart. She is very clear that she needs to marry a guy who measures up to her father in thoughts and values. She loves her grandmother who believes in romance. Partially Supporting Chinki is their loyal servant whom the grand mother always fights with.
Chintu accidentally meets Chinki and falls in love with her. In subsequent episodes the love story progresses with hits, misses, confusions. The love letters , family opposition , hidden meetings, funny excuses to go on a date from the core part of the story. Chintu friend Kishan is the major supporter who gives the ideas and get based too. Yet things get resolved, Chintu and Chinki get married. After marriage, the story revolves on how Chinki progresses from a nuclear family to a large joint family of Chintu. Thus the love story takes a journey of its own constrained by limitations of joint family beliefs and values.
Probably realizing the less audience popularity, the producers of the show have proceeded the story 2 years ahead. After 2 years family members have settled in Navjeevan’s favorite place Nikaragoa and Chintu and Chinky have opened their new business of Marriage bureau counselors and are extremely busy. At present the story is revolving around the nuisances created by new visitors(childerns) at home.
Comparison of 2 serials is bad. But i feel the storyline is going for a toss to fit the tagline of comedy and other serials of SAB TV. Though there are veteran actors who are enacting various characters, it is time for producers to realize that for long innings you need much better substance.
