Teach india experience on 3rd Oct 2009
October 3, 2009
Today was my second class with the kids. I felt more comfortable with the kids as I was not new to them this time. We continued our classes from where we had left last week. As usual all the kids came and formed a circle around me and ishwarya.2 kids were not present today
We began with each person telling us his/her name, class, section, school name & address in English. After that we revised the vocabulary that we had done last time. All the kids repeated the words with us. It was good that most of kids were remembering what we thought them last time.
After all the revision was over, we gave the students the chart paper on which we asked them to draw the objects. Most of these objects are art of the vocabulary that we revised (eraser, ruler, notebook, class room etc). All this words are present in a work sheet.
In this work sheet, last week the students had spelled the object, identified this objects in the crossword. Using the same worksheet the students were drawing the objects on chart paper with pencil and crayons that we provided. While the children’s were drawing, I and ishwarya sat with each kid and revised the words. We ended the day by telling the student the difference between’s’ and ‘z’
Before I end today’s experience, one student that I have been observing today is venkatesh. He knows lot of thing and he assumes that things are simple. Last time our interactions were not proper(I felt so). Today it was better. He was my Tamil tutor today. When I ask him to repeat a word he used to tell me its Tamil word and then tell its English name
Action point for me is to remember all the kids name and definitely grasp some Tamil words . Next time i will try to add some snaps of my students
